Winemakers Dinner , Events No Comments »

The Mill Casino Hotel & RV Park will be hosting another Winemakers Dinner on Sunday Sunday, March 28, 2010.  These dinners have become popular with locals and visitors alike because we traditionally feature a locally owned and operated winery and pair their best wines with our best dishes.

Our next Wine Makers dinner will be team Richard Alvord & Patricia Gustafson, owners of Whistling Ridge Vineyard, our the Mill Casino's The Mill's Executive Chef, Dan Catanio.  For $65 , diners can enjoy four courses, paired four vintages, in an intimate and delightful setting with the Winemakers and Chef.

Whistling Ridge Vineyard has been family owned and operated since 1989 and occupies eight acres in the northern Willamette Valley, near Newberg. What began as one block of Chardonnay 108 clones in 1989 has grown into 15+ acres of vines including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris. For "experimentation and fun", they also grow some Riesling, Muscat, Schonburger, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Blanc in small quantities

We recommend checking our their Wine Maker's Notes before the dinner to get a better idea of what your palate will be in for.  All of their wines are from the Ribbon Ridge AVA.

The event begins at 4pm on Sunday, March 28.  Be sure to join our Facebook event page for information and invite your friends.   For Tickets information, contact Kol-Kwel Gifts= Toll-free / 800.953.4800 & Local / 541.756.8800

Bob Bertheau

Not to brag, but The Mill Casino Winemakers Dinner series has grown into a local Coos Bay favorite over the past year.  This well kept secret is an opportunity for some of the best winemakers in the region to pair up with our Executive Chef, Dan Catanio- and produce magical combinations of four amazing courses paired with four vintages in an intimate setting.  Bob , Head Winemaker at Washington state’s oldest and most acclaimed winery- Chateau Ste Michelle -  will be joining us this month and we are absolutely thrilled!

Chateau Ste. Michelle is one of the few premium wineries in the world with two state-of-the-art wineries, one devoted to whites and another to reds. This dedicated approach to wine making allows winemaker,Bob Bertheau, to build programs to the unique specifications of red and white wines.

Originally from Seattle, Bob spent years in California where worked in Sonoma County as a winemaker for 16 years before he joined Chateau Ste. Michelle in 2003.  He was quickly promoted to head winemaker and has successful maintained their legacy of crafting awarding-winning Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, while putting his own signature on the wines.

Don't just take our word for it.....Says Katherine Hoppe from  Coos Bay – North Bend Visitor & Convention Bureau

The Mill Casino Wine Maker’s Dinner... I cannot say enough about this.....You get a perfectly matched entrée and glass of wine, anywhere from 4-5 courses. Its a leisurely  meal where the chef and wine maker talk to you in between, the food is stunning, the wine is perfectly matched, the service is impeccable, its a great relaxed yet elegant feel. You can wear jeans or your Sunday dress and like all of the Coos Bay area, you’ll fit in no matter what you’re wearing.

The next Winemakers Dinner will be held Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 4 pm in The Mill's upstairs meeting rooms Tickets available at KoKwel Gifts- $65
