Want to know what all the buzz is about? We are thrilled to welcome entertainer Rob Becker, the writer and performer of the hit comedy:
Rob Becker's Defending the Caveman
Broadway's Smash Comedy About the Sexes is coming to the Mill Casino this Month. "Rob Becker's Defending The Caveman," is written
by and stars entertainer Rob Becker. He appeared on Late Night with David Letterman in 1989 and has
since been a frequent guest on national television and radio programs including
Good Morning America, The Today Show, CNN, NPR's "Weekend
Edition," "Talk of The Nation," and "Wha'd Ya Know" with
Michael Feldman. In July 1997, Becker appeared on the "Oprah Winfrey
Show." This hilarious show is an exploration of the differences
between men and
women and how those differences make us misunderstand each other. The one-person
show has played to sold out audiences around the world.

The Mill Casino Hotel is owned and operated by the Coquille Indian Tribe. This is a community whose binding thread is their Coquille
identity; where members give to and receive from the Tribe; and where
Tribal sovereignty and culture are exercised and protected by decisions
and actions that are based on the long-term sustainable health and
well-being of the Tribe and the region.
When
we define community, we do not speak of geographic boundaries or lines
drawn on a map. Community is our relationship with all that surrounds
us. The land. The sky. The sea. And every person that touches our
lives. We are all connected. This philosophy is reflected in our view
of The Mill Casino • Hotel: It is a resource which benefits our
community as a whole.
The Coquille Indians lived and prospered in the southwest region of
Oregon for centuries. With the arrival of the white man in the late
1700s, diseases such as smallpox, measles and plague decimated entire
villages; then, in the 1850s, a new form of "fever" — the discovery of
gold — led to an influx of settlers whose mining bespoiled the rivers
and whose hostility toward the Native Americans caused destruction and
murder in village after village.
Although a treaty negotiated in 1855 acknowledged Indian title to
the Coquille lands, it was overlooked and never ratified when it
reached Congress, and the Coquille were marched northward to the Coast
Reservation, where overcrowding and disease took their toll. Over the
years, many Coquille returned to their homelands and fought for
acknowledgement of the treaty. By 1989, the Tribe was successfully
restored to Federal recognition and Tribal sovereignty.

Memorial Day Weekend is fast approaching and this is our ceremonial start of the summer travel season! Some of our favorite guests come to visit during the summers and we look forward to seeing them each year. Many of you will experience our newly remodeled facility with the luxerious additions for the first time- and we cannot wait to see what you think!
This July will mark our one year anniversary of the completion of our multi year, extensive renovation. This will be our first full summer with our new features allowing us to offer the finest in the South Coast's tourism and hospitality industry. The addtion of our brand new hotel tower coupled with the existing 112-room lodge, our hotel is now among the largest on Oregon's South Coast.
This was a project years in the making and if you have not seen the improvements, here is what you have missed:
An indoor pool with outdoor, bayside hot tubs along with a fitness room, arcade and business center.
- A new 92-room hotel tower with rooms finished in a contemporary décor with luxurious pillow-top beds, flat-screen televisions and bay views from nearly every room.
- 6 new luxury suites with soaking tubs, a bay view, private outdoor patios overlooking scenic Coos Bay.
- A gorgeous stairway from the remodeled lobby and registration area that leads to a second floor complex that includes an reception area and five meeting rooms. The lobby and second floor areas also feature several Coquille Tribe cultural exhibits including an interactive display presenting the story telling tradition of the Coquille people.

We are so proud of our new additions and cannot wait for you to come back and enjoy it all. And in case you are wondering, the one thing that we did not change is the amazing view of the bay throughout the hotel and casino. See you soon!
