Come on 7..Come on 11...Craps is officially back in a big way at The Mill Casino each evening after 6pm. This month, we unveiled our new Craps table and they have been a big hit among game players.
Craps is an exciting, fast-paced game. One of the beauties of this famous casino game is that you don't have to know everything to play
and have fun. Start by learning a few basic bets and work your way up.
If you have any questions, the Table Games Staff is here to help.
Basics of Play:
Craps is played with a pair of dice; each person at the table has a chance to be the "shooter." When the Stickperson indicates it is your turn to shoot, you must bet on one of two basic bets; a Pass Line bet, or a Don't Pass bet. The Stickperson will then have you choose two of five dice. Pick them up with the hand you use for throwing (you may only touch the dice with one hand) and hit the end of the table with both dice. This is called the Come Out Roll. What happens from here depends on the dice.
• If you throw a 7 or 11 and you are betting on the Pass Line, you "Win."
• If you throw a Crap (2, 3, or 12), Don’t Pass bets win and Pass Line bets are taken.
• If you throw anything other than craps, 7 or 11, then that number becomes your "point" (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10)
• You must repeat the point before a 7 to win.
• Once the point has been established, you continue to shoot the dice until you make your point or 7 out.
Betting:
All bets are made with gaming chips, purchased at the game. Some bets are made directly by each player (by setting your chips on specific areas marked on the table. Other bets are made by passing chips to your dealer or the stickperson. You will figure this out as you play. Remember, just ask your friendly dealer for any assistance you may need.
Pass and Don't Pass:
These are the two most basic bets on the Craps table. Make these bets by setting your chips on the area marked Pass or Don't Pass BEFORE the Come Out Roll.
Pass Line:
The Pass Line is a bet for 7 and 11 on the Come Out Roll. Pass Line bets pay when the point is repeated. Don’t Pass bets win on Craps during the Come Out Roll. Any other numbers are inconsequential to the Pass Line.
Come and Don't Come:
With some exceptions, rules for Come and Don't Come are the same as Pass and Don't Pass, respectively. Make these bets by setting your chips on the area marked "Come" or "Don't Come" on the table AFTER Come Out rolls are completed (and the Point is established). Though these bets work very much like Pass and Don't Pass, they don't work off the Point.
Instead, Come and Don't Come work off other numbers in the same way as the point. Here’s how:
Come
After making your Come bet, a roll other than 7, 11, or craps (2, 3 or 12) will move your chips to a numbered box, where this bet will stay until a 7 Out. Come bets PAY when the Come number is repeated.
Don't Come
This is to bet that 7 will roll before a Come number. After making your Don't Come bet, a roll other than 7, 11, or craps (2,3 or 12) will move your chips ABOVE the Come number, where this bet will stay until it PAYS on a 7, or until you take it down.
Flat bets vs. Odds The bets described above are all "flat" bets which pay 1-1. Any of these four bets; Pass, Don't Pass, Come and Don't Come, may alternatively be made to pay "True Odds," which can pay as much as 2-1 (based on the probability of rolling specific numbers before 7, or vice versa.
These bets may only be made AFTER the point is established. Your dealer can help you learn your odds and where to play your chips for
Odds bets.
Field, Big 6 and Big 8
These bets are made by setting your chips on the corresponding area on the table. Make these bets at any time.
Field
The Field is a one-roll bet which may win, depending on whether the very next roll is a Field number (2,3,4,9,10,11 or 12). Field bets pay 1-1, except 2 and 12, which pay 2-1.
Big 6 and Big 8
These bets WIN if their number is rolled before 7. Pays 1-1.
Over and Under 7
These bets are on the combined total of both dice on the next roll. Both bets pay even money. Over 7 Wins when the combined total of both dice is greater than seven. Under 7 Wins when the combined total of both dice is less than seven.
Bets through your dealer or stickperson: Your dealer will gladly explain the rules for these bets in more detail for you.
"Proposition" bets: The area on the table in front of the stickperson is marked for one-roll "Proposition" (or "Prop") bets. Make your Proposition bets with the stickperson.
"Place" bets: Place bets may be made on any number except Crap (2, 3, or 12), 7 or 11 through your dealer. This bet PAYS if the number rolls before a 7.
"Buy" bets: This is a "Place" bet paid according to "True Odds" (see table). Five percent of the wager amount is charged in commission.
